We Didn't Start the Fire

With all of the protests and demonstrations surrounding the Olympic flame, will China ever wake up and smell the smoke? People are pissed... How much more of a clue does one nation need?

Rather than take part in a demonstration, I figured that the best way to sock it to the IOC is to just not watch the Olympics. Sure these athletes trained hard for most of their lives, but that's beside the point. They trained to win medals, not be seen on television so they can become a household name and secure millions in endorsements... or did they? What's that Mark Spitz guy doing these days?

Just like the Super Bowl, or the World Cup, sponsors are lining up and paying the big bucks to have their product shoved down your throat through every imaginable ad campaign. Has anyone bothered to ask how many Chinese even own a television?

Politics has taken the sport out of the Olympics. Ever since 1972, people only watch so they can see if another team gets kidnapped by a bunch of zealots and snuffed out because some dumbass didn't realize that you're supposed to throw the grenade - not the pin.

Now, if anyone does watch the Olympics, it's only to see how China gets their ass handed to them by the protesters, not the athletes. Now, that's a real game to watch.
